2005 New York State Grappling Championships
September 17th 2005
Today I competed in the KCI Grappling Championships & Took first place in my division (no GI).
I had a little obstacle course in my way, there was no one for my division, so I ended up grappling with the heavyweights. The first guy was 185lbs. He came out, we clinch, he hip tossed me but when we hit the floor I scrambled to a Triangle Choke. He tried to stand up so I switched to Armlock & He tapped in submission.
The second Guy was huge, 250lbs. & solid. I was a bit nervous, but we clinched & I pulled guard (him between my legs) and I swept him & got the Mount (top) position. I put my knee on his stomach to score more points, and he pushed me off & took Me to the floor. This time he was trying to smoosh me so I stated to push away with my legs. His arm was posted on my chest. Seeing the gift, I wrapped my legs around his head & got him to a reverse armlock, forcing a submission and taking first place.
I would like to thank my wife and kids for believing in me, and God for his blessing.
A special thanks to Datu Tim Hartman, Janice Stranc & Horizon Martial Arts for Sponsoring me.
I would like to say thank you to my aunt, Uncle & cousins who showed up to watch. I'm glad I could win for La Familia.

"16th fight for the Lightweight Championship title, defending champion Primo Luciano from Buffalo, NY took on Hammer House fighter Luke 'The Apostle' Spencer. In what was a very entertaining fight, both fighters gave it their all to the delight of the crowd. Luciano looked to take the fight to the ground on numerous occasions, but the crafty veteran Spencer, avoided most takedown attempts and clearly won the stand up battle. In the end, Spencer did more damage on the feet and avoided most of the Primo takedown attempts and easily scored a unanimous decision victory snatching the Lightweight title away from a very game Luciano."
